My Birthday!

It's scandalous how long it's been since my blog has been updated, just scandalous, I say. I know my mom is working a lot, but really now, two years since a blog post!

I just turned 10 and had a party to celebrate last month. Lovely lunch on the patio with some of my nearest and dearest 2 legged and 4 legged friends. And birthday cake as well!

The week after next I am being whisked off to Carmel for 2 days. Definitely pushing the summer road trip thing, as it will be August!

Woof woof to everyone!

Canine 2.0

For those of you who wonder what Lilly does with her days, I think we know now. Twitter? Facebook? Macys? CNBC? Could be any or all of them. She does seem to have a lot of doggie scarves and bones all of a sudden, from what I can tell.

So who wants to venture a guess as to Lilly's favorite site?

A Busy Summer

Uncle Doug has been asking for a new post for months, but Lilly has been the busy bee this summer. Weekly dates with her play group, of course. Visits from her grandparents. Long weekend at the Pebble Beach Dressage Show. Napping on one of her five beds scattered throughout the house. She even had a late night at Becky's house to watch the Olympics. Who has time to blog?

Everyone else in her circle has been kept busy as well. Doug still makes bi-monthly trips to Whole Foods to make sure Lilly has a supply of bones. Susan still rubs her tummy before she takes Lilly out for group with her canine friends. Her grandparents still babysit and jog along at the end of Lilly's leash whenever they're in town.

And moi? Always in amazement how this 15 pound rescue dog stole everyone's life. And everyone's heart, as well.

Bone Run

What does a busy ad executive do between client meetings and weekends in the office? Bone Run for Lilly! And then a coffee at Il Fornaio @ 8:30AM to deliver said bones. Yes, Uncle Doug was kind enough to make a special trip to Whole Foods to buy a bag full (and I mean a bag full) of Lilly's favorite organic dried beef marrow bones.

I bet Doug never imagined he'd be doing bone runs at Whole Foods!! Lilly and I are very lucky to have him in our lives!

The Twelve Bones of Christmas

Ah yes, the holidays are upon us. Lilly has already received her first holiday gift from Uncle Doug... 12 of her favorite beef marrow bones, one for each month. Yeah right. She'll be looking for a re-stock by Valentine's Day.

And on the traveling front...recently Lilly vacationed with her grandparents and her great-grandmother in Carmel for a day. The photo of Lilly smiling was taken on the patio of her favorite hotel, The Cypress Inn, where she begged for scones and tea sandwiches.

Thank You, Uncle Doug!!!

Well, after all these years, Doug scored some major brownie points with Lilly. He gave her a dried beef marrow bone. Initially, Lilly was a little puzzled about what she was supposed to do with said bone, but she got the idea and promptly settled in on her living room bed and went to town with the bone.

What better way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon?

Lilly's Spring Break

In Springtime, a young dog's thoughts turn to running on the beach, chasing squirrels and whooping it up after a long winter's nap.

Lilly is just back from a few days in Carmel and Cambria, where she visited all the shops, chased birds and ventured into the surf a little. She snuggled with her grandmother and had her own special bed at The Cypress Inn, her favorite hotel.

All in all, a wonderful way to start Spring!

$4,000....And Counting

We all know what a special dog Lilly is, but did you know she is a Mystery Dog as well?? Her yo-yo fever and swollen glands have stumped not one, not two, but FOUR vets. $4,000 and counting. But, we all know she's priceless.

Later this month, Lilly will be journeying to Cambria and Carmel for her Spring Break. If it weren't for the big vet bills, she'd be having Spring Break in Savannah, GA, but that's another story.

Lilly has also decided she prefers my side of the bed. So, I've had to switch. I now have a corner of the bed against the wall, where there is no reading light and it's very difficult to get in and out. Oh well. Next time I am buying a king size mattress, that's all I can say.

Lilly Takes Ashland By Storm

Lilly recently traveled to Ashland to see the leaves changing color in Southern Oregon. She stopped traffic wherever we went. One of the shop owners even offered a free purchase in exchange for Lilly. AS IF!!!!!!!!!!

We All Scream for Ice Cream

Even Lilly, especially when it's mint chocolate which she's not supposed to have. Good luck eating that bowl without any canine intervention.

"Now I've Seen Everything."

So said my neighbor Jennifer when she saw Lilly in her new winter PJ's, pink flannel with little hearts. Lilly also has a cotton pair (pink also) with yellow ducks. Just to make sure she doesn't catch cold this winter!

Her auntie Jackie took this photo of Lilly modeling her PJ's under the newly trimmed Christmas tree. Enough said, I think.

No Dog Left Behind

Well, it happens sometimes. After a busy summer, Lilly is home alone while I'm working in San Francisco. Of course she has her group with Susan in the afternoons. Lilly's summer fun included a trip to see her grandparents in Cambria and an overnight get-a-way in Carmel, her favorite destination.

This Fall, Lilly will be traveling to Ashland to see the leaves turn.

Dog Days of Summer

After almost a week of record-breaking heat, Lilly and I fled to San Francisco for an overnight getaway. Thank you Marriott Rewards program!! Lilly enjoyed the room, which we set at 66 degrees. Heaven! She had several walks at the little park atop Nob Hill, which is small dog central. And we had dinner with Uncle Doug. We're back in our 85 degree house in San Anselmo, but a day away has made it tolerable.

Lilly's Next Adventure

Lilly, along with her Aunt Jackie and me, will be attending the Pebble Beach Summer Dressage Festival in July. We'll spend a night at the much-loved Cypress Inn and Lilly will get to watch some big fancy horses strut their stuff. My trainer Becky is competing in the show, so should be fun! Horses and Beach holiday - what could be better for the Terror Terrier?

Lilly's Birthday Weekend

It's Lilly's birthday on Saturday, she'll be turning five (I think) and it's our four-year anniversary together! She's already received a beautiful card from her grandparents and is excited for her special day. I think a trip to the beach is in order.

Lilly in Mendocino

Lilly and I just returned from a couple of days in Mendocino. Lilly got a tummy rub at reception at The MacCallum House, kept me company on the deck of The Mousse Cafe and snoozed during breakfast on the hotel's deck. All in all, a happy camper. Lots of walking around town, getting treats at all the stores and smelling the sea air. We got home and she promptly collapsed in the living room.

Lilly's Memorial Day Garden Party in Glen Ellen

Lilly and I went to a drop-dead fabulous garden party in Glen Ellen, given by friends of Doug. There were about 40 guests, plus parking attendants, waiters, a piano player, beautiful flowers, the works. There were a few other dogs there, but she completely ignored them. Couldn't have cared less. Lilly dined on roast beef (cooked rare), salmon and whipped cream. Her uncle Doug was kind enough to hand feed her water. She rolled on the lawn, met most of the guests, got lots of compliments and seemed pleased as punch to be at such a swanky gathering.

Thanks to Doug for bringing us!!!!

Lilly's B-Day Alert!

It's not too late to get those cards in the mail! Lilly will be turning 5 on June 10th, which is our 4 year anniversary together! Lilly has a busy summer to look forward to. This Sunday is a visit up to Glen Ellen, and next weekened is a trip to Mendocino at one of her favorite hotels, The MacCallum House. And of course she has her group 3 days/week.

Still no interest in the new bed - maybe when summer warms up she'll "get it". Maybe not -);

Canine Cooler - Is it cool enough??

Okay, the much anticipated Canine Cooler Cooling Bed arrived with yesterday's mail. It's a doggie waterbed (plastic) and so far Lilly couldn't care less. Maybe she knows it was only $45. Maybe it's not as cushy as her other two dog beds. Who knows?

If Lilly could speak, she'd say it's high time she had a blog of her own. So get ready for the adventures of the one and only "Terror Terrier"!
